MECHANICSBURG, Pa - Patients of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Mechanicsburg was visited by a Certified Assisted Pet Therapy llama on Friday, June 30.

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Mechanicsburg is an inpatient hospital which provides comprehensive treatments in rehabilitative medicine for patients who have experienced stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic injury and more.

"Keeper", a certified assisted pet therapy llama, will be visiting to lift the spirits of, and provide companionship to patients who are in the process of recovery.

"Pet therapy is a fantastic way to help patients reduce the stress that they are experiencing from their medical conditions and rehabilitation" stated Meg Fiscus, Manager of Physical and Occupational Therapy. "It's wonderful to see our patients light up when they interact with a pet therapy animal, the smiles last for days!"
