    Occupational Rehabilitation

    Program Design
    The Occupational Rehabilitation Program at HealthSouth consists of a highly specialized team of certified therapists trained in orthopedics. Their expertise in physical and occupational therapy enables them to concentrate on work-related injuries. Our primary objective is to identify a patient's current functional limitations and successfully restore the physical and mental abilities necessary to return to work and an active lifestyle.

    Return-to-Work Programs

    Functional capacity evaluations (FCE) - consists of one- or two-day assessments designed to objectively evaluate the worker's physical capacities and limitations with fespect to normal functions. Evaluations include:

    • Musculoskeletal screening
    • Demonstrated functionalfwork capacities
    • Aerobic capacity
    • Psychological screenings

    Work hardening -utilizes work-centered activities in an organized program to recondition injured workers and facilitate a safe and timely return to work. The highly structured program consists of fourto eight hours of services, three to five days a week, including:

    • Work simulation
    • Proper body mechanics
    • Ergonomic/safety training
    • Stress and pain management
    • Onsite job analysis
    • Physical conditioning
    • Education awareness
    • Physical/occupationaI therapy
    • Vocational services/counseling
    • Psychological counseling/behavioral management

    Work conditioning -a work-related program that consists of one to four hours of services, two to three days a week, including:

    • Physical/occupationaI therapy
    • Work-related activities
    • Aerobic/strengthening program
    • Education awareness
    • Body mechanics/safety training
