Medically Complex Program
HealthSouth Regional Specialty Hospital's Medically Complex Program provides comprehensive medical and rehabilitation services to individuals whose complex medical problems co-exists with functional decline. The program is designed to medically stabilize and strengthen patients to return them to their highest level of functional ability. At HealthSouth Regional Specialty Hospital, we offer the clinical, technical, and professional resources necessary to provide individualized treatment to our medically complex patient, which promotes progress towards recovery. Patients receive 24-hour care from registered nurses and respiratory therapists, that are ACLS certified and critical care trained. Patients are seen by their attending physician a minimum of five days a week and consultants as needed. This dedication to clinical excellence and patient outcomes has allowed us to achieve a 50% discharge to community rate.
Goals
HealthSouth's expert medical and therapeutic staff utilizes a team treatment approach to:
- Simultaneously address patients' medical and functional needs
- To stabilize medical condition and increase patient activity to
progress them to the next level of care
- To introduce physical, occupational, speech therapy when
medically appropriate
- To increase patient and caregiver knowledge of medical condition
- To manage physiological and psychological disability
- Assist patients in reaching their maximum level of independence

Clinical Team
Our interdisciplinary team of medical professionals provides a comprehensive evaluation and then formulates a dynamic, goal-oriented plan tailored to the patient's needs and abilities.
Members of the team include registered respiratory therapists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, psychologists, board-certified internal medicine physicians, case managers and registered dieticians.
